Send a Parcel to Krakow, Poland

Send a Parcel to Krakow, Poland

Krakow is Poland's second largest city with a population of some 760,000 people but there are over 8 million within 100 km of its centre in its important industrial surroundings.

It started as a Stone Age settlement and was an important trading centre for most of its life. It was capital of Poland from 1038 to 1569 and has been a major part of the political life of the country throughout its history. It has always had a beautiful old centre and this surprisingly survived the dreadful wars that it has endured. UNESCO made Krakow’s Historic Centre one of its first UNESCO World Heritage Sites and today this beautiful city receives visitors from all over the World.

Krakow was chosen by Germany as the centre for its General Government of the country in World War 11. This Government immediately declared all Poles and Jews as sub humans and were targeted for extermination. The Jews were imprisoned in the Krakow Ghetto for transportation the extermination camps of Auschwitz and concentration camp of Plaszow in the lowest period of its existence.

One of the highlights of Krakow is that its Archbishop Karol Wojtyla was chosen to become the first non-Italian Pope in over 400 years in 1978 and as Pope John Paul 11 he became a very influential and much loved leader mourned throughout the world on his death.

Krakow today is bearing the fruits of a good workforce and cheap operating costs as foreign investors have come in their droves. The collapse of Communism heralded the influx of the private sector and there are 50 major multinational companies operating in the city, these include Motorola, IBM, General Electric, MAN SE, Hitachi and many others.

This beautiful city demands a first class parcel service, many UK companies have relocated here because of the cheap costs and lack of bureaucracy and the commercial links are strong and the ability to ship goods quickly and cheaply through a good courier is paramount for the cities future expansion.
