Send a Parcel to Rennes, France

The city of Rennes located in northwest France is the capital of Brittany, and is a town that has long been at the heart of Breton history. The city has had several disasters over the years with most of the town burnt out in the 1720 fire, in addition it suffered extremely heavy damage during the Second World War.

In the 1950s the city underwent extensive development to make it Frances second fastest growing city. The inner city is home to about 206,000 people with the surrounding area holding a further 663,000.

The city is classed as one of art and history. Famous buildings that you should see are the Parliament de Bretagne the city hall and the opera, as well as to the east where traditional half timbered buildings can be found including the 1920s St George municipal pool, complete with mosaics, and the famous St George Palace and gardens.

The place Railler du Baty is home to a large weekly market known as the marche des Lices. Another key historic site to see is the Rennes Cathedral. The city centre lies to the south and features a mixture of old historic buildings as well as more modern 19th and 20th century additions.

The largest employer is the well known PSA Peugeot Citroen, with Technicolor and France Telecom also being other major players. In the past few years Rennes has made itself in to a high tech centre following the governments establishment of a Technopole in the city. This has brought the 2nd highest number of tech firm in France to the city.

With regards to the city’s culture it features many arts festivals as well as having its own TV channel, a first in France.

The nearby tech companies ensure that local logistics services are used to handling delicate high cost shipments. However you should always ensure that when you send such parcels to Rennes that you pack them adequately to avoid breakages.
