In 2015 we saw a new force awakening in the e-commerce market. With the introduction of mobile wallets, new lending platforms and even one touch buy buttons. The digital landscape is rapidly changing businesses and the way consumers are behaving. So we began to consider what changes are kujekhappen over the next couple of years.
Lending startups will develop into the new banks
In a recent study conducted, it has been revealed that the majority of millennials do not currently own a credit card. After the aftermath of the recession most millennials have chosen to shy away from the credit schemes. New lending apps such as Earnest, are now trying to entice customers with smaller loans that can be paid off in a specific time frame.
This is being done so that customers know the exact amount of their monthly payment and how long it will take to pay off debt. The idea being that if it is clearly shown to the customer, they are going to be more likely to take out a loan. In 2016 this strategy will be most likely applied to attract people who are trying to purchase cars and homes.
Apple pay and other mobile wallets
More and more businesses are introducing mobile wallet technology into their stores. As more merchants begin to use this technology, we are also changing the way we shop. Apple and Paypal are currently leading this trend and are convincing consumers to use apps instead of cards. It would only make sense that these apps would eventually be linked to a full finance app that will allow users to control finance on their mobiles.
This has even changed our parcel delivery service as we now offer a prepay option. This means that our customers are now able to have an account with us. With this account you are able to add credit that can be used to purchase parcel delivery services. This makes its quicker than ever to send a parcel.
More and more companies are trying to look into ways that a clickable button could be used around the home to purchase frequent items. Amazon first joked about the concept in 2015, however now more companies are looking into it. Mastercard are considering adding a dash button onto many items such as key fobs and jewellery.
