Send a Parcel to Antwerp, Belgium

Antwerp is a major Belgian city near the west coast built either side of the River Scheldt. The city has a metropolitan population of just below 1.2 million people.

The city is an old city with some lovely buildings still existing although many of them had to be restored after the last war when Hitler ordered its destruction after it was liberated by the British. Thousands of V1 and V 2 missiles were aimed at the dockyards to stop the Allied troops landing supplies but most hit the city and destroyed a great deal of the city.

Life in Antwerp started because of the river and the ability for ship transport and trade and this is still the case today. There are Gallo Roman remains suggesting an early settlement in the 2nd century. Trade was good but strangely was always run by foreign traders, its fortunes improved when the River Zwin to Bruges silted up as to that time Bruges was a more advanced place and the traders avoided Antwerp. As its prominence increased it became the sugar capital of the Europe bringing in sugar from the Spanish and Portuguese plantations. The Hisadic Jews also set up a major diamond market, which they still run today.

Today the port of Antwerp is still the lifeblood of the city with thriving docks for miles along the river on both sides on both sides of the city. The container trade is enormous and has to be seen to be believed. The thriving diamond market is mostly supplied by air.

For those looking for a reliable, worldwide courier service, sending a parcel to Belgium is easy and the distances are short, whilst the docks can transport small deliveries they are dealt with by expert carriers (For high value goods). Because of the value of some of the goods there is some demand for specialist care. Because Antwerp is an opening to the rest of Europe the parcel trade can fit into the same routes to ensure the best in quality of service.

I’ve used this service twice abd each…

I’ve used this service twice abd each time the website tells me how long I’ve got for a collection on the day I’ve placed the order. I’ve placed the order and immediately been told it’s too late for a collection! This means my collection has to be rescheduled or I take it to a local drop off point. I’d rather they were honest when placing the order. Apart from that Theresa in the office is most helpful, the pricing is very competitive and things have been delivered internationally successfully.

Best service ever. Been sending parcels to my son in USA for 22 years with various other companies. Sometimes problematic with delays and losses. No issues , no delays,no excuses. Just great service. What they say is what you get. Well done !!
